Kilkenny is one of Ireland counties and it is known as the medieval city due to the historical buildings that were made during the Middle Ages.

One of the well-preserved medieval architecture is the Kilkenny Castle. It was built during the first decade of the thirteen century for William Marshal, 4th Earl of Pembroke. It is said to be the original Anglo-Norman stone castle.

The castle is settled in the heart of the city mainly in The Parade, Collegepark, Kilkenny and a 15-minute walk from McDonagh Railway station.

What you need to know in visiting Kilkenny Castle?

1.  Opening hours depend on the month of the year.

2. Admission fee to the castle, as of 2017, ranges from 6 to 20 euros.

Senior (60+)/Group:(20+ Adults/Seniors): €6.00

Child (6-18)/Student: €4.00

Family: €20.00

3. Admission to the park is free.

4. The use of drone within Kilkeny Castle's vicinity is NOT permitted.
5. The average time of tour is 1 hour.
6. Filming/video recording inside the castle is not allowed. Only non-flash photography is permitted.
